"Dark Hippo Rising," original acrylic painting

“Dark Hippo Rising”: What started out as a peaceful, monochromatic painting of manatees was hijacked by a movie star hippo. This was based on photos I took from an underwater manatee viewing area while visiting Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Florida, but I was so impressed by Lu the Hippo, an aging movie star who lives at the park, that I had to include him in the painting. This 22x28" acrylic painting, is unframed, but it is on gallery-wrapped canvas, and the sides of the canvas are painted.
