Framed oil painting on canvas, 30"x15." This painting was based on an extreme crop of a drawing I made of a live model during an art class. The crossed arms of the gesture he was using signified resistance to me, so I focused on that. I was painting in greens at the time, and I felt that added an intensity that fit the pose. I also added some realism to the musculature of the arms and shoulders to emphasize the beauty of the arms. The slightly open mouth was fascinating to me, because it seemed as if he were about to speak. This painting is subtly and simply framed, slightly recessed in a black wood frame. It is ready to hang with a wire mounted on the back.
